PARENTS and FRIENDS
The success of any Scout Group relies not only on the dedicated uniform leaders but needs the support of Parents, Guardians and Friends. The 82nd Bristol Scout Group is no exception. Whether its helping out at weekly meetings, helping with transport, or assisting with other activities (including camps), they all need peoples help and support.
Parents and Guardians can also pledge their support financially by signing a Gift Aid declaration, which allows the Scout Group to claim back all income tax paid on scout subscriptions.
All Parents and Guardians of Scouts automatically are part of the Group Scout Council from which a committee is formed to look after the administration of the Scout Group. Elections are held usually every June at a Parents and Friends Evening normally with members of the Scout District Management Team in attendance.
The elected Scout Group Committee normally meet every couple of months and discuss issues such as finance, issues with the Scout Headquarters, agreeing on new equipment purchase and planning of camps, social events and fund raising activities. Any Parent or Guardian interested in helping with the Scout Group Committee should contact either the GSL or elected committee members.
