Lake District walking weekend - Friday 28th to Sunday 30th November

The weekend

The trip takes place over the weekend of Friday 28th November to Sunday 30th November. We will be staying in Rydal Hall near Ambleside in the Lake District. The weekend offers you the opportunity to walk in some of the most beautiful hills and mountains in England with experienced leaders.

The trip has been running for many years and is open to all Scouts (over 13) and Explorer Scouts (including Young Leaders) in the District. It's a great chance to meet other people from around Bristol South, get away and have a relaxing and rewarding weekend.

We will aim to put you in a group of about 5 Scouts with 2 leaders. You can do as much or as little as you like - however, the more you put in, the more you will get out.

The programme

The adventure begins on Friday night (28th November). We will leave Bristol at 6:00pm and head north. Everyone must meet at the lay-by on School Road betweent the turns for Hardwick Close and The Rock with their kit, any money owed and permission to camp form. We will be travelling by minibus and have a trailer for all the food and equipment.

We expect to arrive at Rydal Hall at about midnight where there is a short walk from the road to the bunkhouse. Obviously, we expect everyone to work quickly and quietly to minimise disturbance to the neighbours.

Supper will be available and then off to bed ready for an early start!

Our dedicated chefs will prepare a breakfast for you on Saturday that will be beyond your wildest dreams to start you off in the proper fashion. Your group will then be dropped at their start point for your day in the mountains.

After a great day on the hills, it's back to Rydal Hall for a "home cooked" dinner before the evening entertainment begins.

After breakfast on Sunday morning, there will be a chance to explore the local surroundings, play games in the grounds or visit Ambleside. Lunch will be at about 1:00pm before we clean up, clear out and head back to Bristol

We usually get back at about 6:00pm

The cost is £40 for the weekend. Some groups offer a discount to their members so don't forget to check with your leader.
