Snowdonia walking weekend - Friday 4th to Sunday 6th December 2009
Another great weekend in the mountains!
The journey up wasn't too bad if you ignored the fact that there weren't many services and some wanted the toilet by Gloucester!
Everyone was up for an early start on Saturday. After breakfast was served two groups left in the minibus and the others walked from the hostel. At first it looked like it would stay clear for the day. However, once we had started the cloud came in and it was pretty wet on the tops.
All four Explorer groups made it round their routes without any problems - however, the Network team managed to walk to wrong lake and only completed about 50% of their route!
The groups had a fantastic experience; the day was challenging, but with determination and persistence everyone was back in Hafod by about 5:00pm and had time to relax and shower before dinner.
The evening meal was a early Christmas dinner! A three course delight to refuel everyone who had been out an about during the day. The Network kept everyone amused after dinner for a bit and then it was games in the dinning room.
Sunday morning was better than Saturday but still a bit damp. A few went for a short walk and the rest played wide games. Then it was back to Hafod for lunch before clearing up and leaving for Bristol.
Thanks to all the Explorers for such a great weekend. Thanks also to the catering team, walking leaders and drivers who gave up their weekend to make the trip so good.
Next year we will be off to Rydal in the Lake District - the date is already booked (26th - 28th November) so make sure you're a part of it - see you there!
