Lake District walking weekend - Friday 26th to Sunday 28th November 2010

A great weekend in the mountains!

Having made a quick last minute travel adjustment, we were off north and the journey wasn't too bad - even if we did get there after 1:00am!

Everyone was up for an early start on Saturday. After breakfast was served two groups tried to leave in the minibus whilst the third walked from the hostel. It wasn't long before the first two groups came back as the minibus couldn't get to the main road as it had snowed overnight!

All three Explorer groups made it round their routes without any problems - some even realised why we asked them to bring a torch, although next time they will hopefully not leave them in the hostel!

The groups had a fantastic experience; the day was challenging, but with determination and persistence everyone was back in Rydal for showers and a full roast dinner.

Sunday morning was just as good and everyone went for a walk to Ambleside. Then it was back to Rydal for lunch before clearing up and leaving for Bristol.

Thanks to all the Explorers for such a great weekend. Thanks also to the catering team, walking leaders and drivers who gave up their weekend to make the trip so good.

Next year we will be off to Hafod in Snowdonia - the date is already booked (25th - 27th November) so make sure you're a part of it - see you there!
