District ‘Thank You’ Event – 20/03/23

Date: 21st Mar 2023 Author: Web Editor

Perhaps the rain kept numbers down and as always some volunteers would not be able to attend as they were running their meetings, however, it was still great to see everyone, with nearly 80 attending. So great to see our fellow volunteers Face To Face, whilst we had ‘Zoomed’ during the pandemic period it was 2019 we last held this event ‘in person’.

Paul, or DC [Lead Volunteer] opened the proceedings ably assisted by Scott & Teresa. Paul, went on to make many presentations. All the nominations for the ‘local’ awards had come from their piers, parents or others who nominated them for their services. Some Scout Association Awards were also presented

Over 20 District Thank You Cards were given out or will be sent to individuals that could not attend [a list of recipients is at the bottom of this page]. A long Service award was presented to Lynne of 107th and a Commissioners Commendation to Steve Weeks from Blenheim.

With the formalities then over it was time to reacquaint with old friends and make new ones and we dare say a lot of ‘Scouting Business’ was actually transacted, over ‘nibbles’ of every description, proving that Scouting never stops. The biggest of THANK YOUs to all who volunteer to make Scouting in our district such a success.
